In July of this year (as in, next month-eek!), my husband and I will be taking a trip to Los Angeles, and no trip would be complete without a visit to the Disneyland Resort! We’re actually not going to Disneyland Park (we went during our last visit in 2015- I wanted to go again, but, you know, it’s expensive)- however, we are going to Disney’s California Adventure for the first time ever!
I like to do a lot of research on trips before we go, yet I also don’t want to spoil anything for myself. As July gets closer, I’m starting to make more plans for seeing shows, making dining reservations, and planning on what attraction fast passes to get. Disneyland still uses the paper fast pass system, so we have to make sure we’re there early to get fast passes for the most popular rides! Unfortunately, we are visiting during the summer, which is one of the busiest times. However, as Edna Mode would say, “Luck favors the prepared.”
- Radiator Springs Racers
I’m not a huge fan of the Cars’ movies, but I am so excited for this ride! It looks like a more exciting version of Test Track, and the scenery around the whole land just looks incredible. I’ve heard that fast passes for this ride run out within the first hour of park opening, so we plan to get there quite early for this one!
- World of Color
This is a must for me, and I don’t want to risk getting a bad view of the show- so I booked a dining package (first time ever doing a dining package- and yes, my wallet will be crying afterwards). I currently have the two of us doing dinner at Ariel’s Grotto, so hopefully we’ll get a nice table on Paradise Pier and then we’ll get a nice viewing area for the show! During my research, I learned that the dessert party is better, but it’s a lot pricier, so hopefully the dining package will not disappoint!
- Frozen Live at the Hyperion Theater
I heard great things about the Aladdin show, but now that’s gone, so hopefully Frozen will be just as good! This is another one that is a must do for me, and I feel that the husband isn’t too excited for this but…he’ll survive! It can’t be THAT bad!
- Soarin’ Around the World
Okay, I know we have Soarin’ over at Epcot, but it’s the ride we got engaged on, so I’d love to go on every version of this ride in every Disney park! Plus, if I get homesick for Disney World, this will be a nice cure! I’m really excited to see the theming and the queue for this west coast version, and compare it to Disney World’s version.
- A Bug’s Land
I know this land is mainly full of kiddie rides, but I’m sure the theming is cute, and hey, it’s something new! I can’t wait to see all the oversized buildings and decorations.
- Guardians of the Galaxy- Mission Breakout
I must admit, I’m a little scared of this one! Tower of Terror scares me so much at Hollywood Studios in Orlando, and I’ve only ridden it once. However, my husband loves Guardians of the Galaxy, so we might just be brave enough to do this! The drops seem terrifying, but I’m really interested to see how they re-themed this ride from The Twilight Zone. We have to do at least one thrill ride so we don’t look like sissies, and I’m nervous about California Screamin- I think I’d rather do this!
There’s much more that I’m excited for, of course, but these are at the top of my list! I really want to experience all the new stuff, and everything that we don’t have here in Orlando, so as long as we experience those rides and attractions, I’ll be satisfied! If anyone has any dining or general tips for California Adventure, please let me know!
Up next, I’ll be writing about the other excursions of our trip- Universal Studios Hollywood and D23! I can’t believe we’re actually going to D23! Stay tuned…
