People who know me in real life will look at this post and laugh- her, wear makeup? True, I don’t have the guts, or skills, to go fancy with the eye-shadow and the eyeliner, but I do love a good foundation, bronzer, blush, and lately, highlighters.
I did recently find out that I’m allergic to whatever weird chemicals they put in drugstore makeup, so sadly, I’ve had to empty my wallet on Sephora products. However, though they are pricey, they don’t make my skin break out (and you can’t beat the quality)!
Here’s a little overview of what I wear when I go to a Disney park (without worrying if it will melt off), and what I wear on a daily basis:
I use this to cover all my scars (back when I used to pop zits- come on, you know you do it too), and areas of my face where the pigmentation is off. This is especially handy as it’s a foundation and a concealer in one- I also use to cover my under-eye circles as well. This can be applied with your hands (the warmth from your fingers is good for softening up the application process- just make sure your hands are clean!) or with a beauty blender. I use the shade N30- a very beige, neutral color. I find that it stays on throughout the blistering heat of the day.
I asked for bronzer recommendations on Facebook, and a lot of people recommended Hoola. I like how long this lasts, and how it can be used to contour my cheekbones and sides of my nose (with a nose as big as mine, I need all the contouring I can get). It’s also nice to get that little hint of color without the use of blush, if you don’t want a heavy face of makeup.
As do most of my friends, I love the brand Tarte. This blush lasts FOREVER and I love blending it with the bronzer. I usually just brush it across the apples of my cheeks, sometimes going up into the sides of my eyes- I prefer light, rosy shades for that naturally flushed (not sweaty) look.
This is one of the rare drugstore makeup finds I can wear without my face going crazy. It’s waterproof, which makes this mascara great for water rides like Splash Mountain. This also means it’s a bitch to remove at night, but some heavy rubbing of oil-free makeup remover usually takes care of it.
Keeping with the Tarte products, I love this lip “gloss.” It doesn’t feel cakey or gooey, and it lasts for a really long time. I have to be really careful when I apply it because when it’s on, it’s on. As in, very hard to rub off. Which is good when you’re eating a Mickey Waffle, but bad if you’ve smudged some on your chin (also- check your teeth!). I like dark brown to nude shades- nothing too crazy, especially for a Disney day in the sun.
Everyone has this palette, and raves about it. I find it hard to wear at work, but who doesn’t want a little sparkle when they’re among princesses and castles? I hate to admit it, but I’ve jumped on the highlighter train, and I’m not getting off anytime soon.
Granted, I don’t wear this too often. I am trying to learn how to blend colors, but when I do wear eyeshadow, this natural-looking palette is perfect for me. I love earthy colors. As of now, I just wear one or two shades at a time, but I promise, I’m trying!
What makeup do you wear into the parks? Any recommendations?
