I was tagged by the lovely Anne over at www.rootingbranches.blogspot.com for The Personal Tag! Below you’ll find 11 questions that will hopefully let you all learn a little more about me. If you like what you see, be sure to check out the rules below and keep the tag going!
- What are your favorite type of blog posts to read?
This is a hard one- I love reading about everything! Firstly, I’m a Disney blog, so I do like reading posts about the parks and movies, but I also love reading about what people get up to in their day-to-day lives. I studied Anthropology in undergrad, which means I love learning about people and cultures different from mine. Everyone has such as an interesting story to tell, and I’m having the best time discovering all sorts of new lifestyle and Disney bloggers.
- Which social media platform do you favor? Why?
This is a hard one- I’m an introvert, which means social media can be both a blessing and a curse. It’s great to be able to interact and meet others in a virtual way, but I also hate it when I see pictures of friends going out when I wasn’t invited, or when I stumble upon other blogs or Instagram profiles and try to compare my life (and photography skills) to theirs.
I suppose the answer right now would be Twitter, as that’s where I’ve met the nicest people and discovered all the new ways to advertise my blog posts!
- What’s your choice of cheat food?
I love food. I eat everything, and don’t deny myself something I have my heart set on. However, I will gorge myself on McDonald’s fries and shakes every now and then, even though I know that stuff is terrible for you. I have a lot of friends who are big supporters of healthy eating, and a lot of their food consists of kale, oats, and wheats. While there’s nothing wrong with that, kale just makes me sick to my stomach, and I hate flax seed. So, I guess to others, every day of mine would seem like a cheat food day!
- What’s the most important thing a person can do to improve themselves?
I think doing anything that makes you happy is an improvement to your life (unless drugs make you happy- don’t do drugs). For so long, especially in high school, I worried about what others thought of me. Once I let go of that, my life improved for the better and I find myself living more freely and unapologetically. I don’t try to hide my love of Disney or reading for fear that it will make me look weird. Instead, I embraced those qualities and made a blog around them- and wrote two Disney books that got published!
Long story short, embrace what you love, don’t care so much what others think, and do what makes you happy- that is a great to improve not only yourself, but the lives of those around you.
- How would you define your style in 5 words?
Oh, gosh. A lot of people would say I don’t have “style,” but I guess it’s all relative, isn’t it? Here goes:
- Flowery (a lot of my dresses have flower patterns)
- What was one of the best days of your life?
Since I already wrote about my wedding day on this blog, I would have to say a close second is the day my husband, sister, and I travelled to Austin, Texas. We originally went to see Taylor Swift in concert, but before that, we had an amazing day exploring and hiking some natural springs (see picture above- it was paradise). It was called the Hamilton Pool Preserve, and we went on a cloudy day with barely anyone there, getting the whole area to ourselves. It was perfect to be out in nature, not worrying about texts or work emails (no service), and just joking around with my family while taking in the beauty of our surroundings.
Since then, I’ve learned a lot about Forest Bathing, a form of therapy and calmness you get from strolling in the woods. I can’t wait to go on more hiking excursions to natural springs, and get that same sense of tranquility. I’m an anxious person and I always worry about something, but I can truly say that on this day, I was completely carefree.
- What skill or craft would you like to master?
Photography and Photoshop, definitely. I want my blog and social media to look as beautiful as all the others I’ve seen out there.
A close second would be learning how to speak Mandarin, so that I can understand my in-laws better (they’re Chinese). I would love for my future children to know a second language as well.
- What are your biggest likes and dislikes of the blogging community?
I love the connections I’ve made so far with fellow bloggers, mostly those from the UK. I feel like as I keep blogging, I’ll be able to make more friends with fellow bloggers- I never knew that these huge blogging communities existed!
For dislikes, I don’t enjoy the competitiveness I’ve seen among some blogs. I feel as though there is a difference between being humble about your large following and blog stats, and bragging about them. There are days where I feel completely let-down after seeing on Twitter that someone reached 300 followers, while I can’t even reach more than 10 visitors in one day. However, I know that I need to be patient, and that more views will come with time!
- Is there anything that you hoard?
Books, for sure. I currently have a pile of 10 books lined up at my bedside, waiting to be read, and yet I still buy a new book every other week. It’s a problem.
Also, I save almost every Disney souvenir I get, whether it’s a free button, pair of ears, or a park map. My husband loves it.
- What makes a person beautiful?
People who are happy, and above all, kind to others. You can be the most beautiful girl (looks-wise) in the world, and still have an ugly soul. Kindness means everything.
- What keeps you blogging?
Simply a love of the game, and an urge to write and spill my thoughts. I love the chance to calm my anxious mind by getting my thoughts written down, and so far, I’ve loved sharing them with the world. I can’t wait to grow my blog, and make new connections with others.
